"An educated society is the cornerstone for the human and economic development of a nation."
The education of our scholarshipped girls and young women in Guatemala faces several challenges. Firstly, the country has been characterized by a low rate of schooling. Additionally, it presents certain disadvantages in terms of learning achievements in areas such as reading and mathematics.
Despite these challenges, the Scholarship Project continues to focus on improving its educational quality. Our objective is for the scholarship recipients to have the necessary tools for a better future:
1. Innovating teaching methods (extracurricular training): the aim is to create a healthy environment where scholarship recipients learn to love knowledge and encourage continuous learning.
2. Reducing school dropout rates through the empowerment of girls and young women, seeking to maximize their potential and understanding that education opens doors and changes people’s quality of life.
3. Overcoming the challenge of transitioning to a higher level: it is a crucial moment in the lives of the scholarship recipients, transitioning from primary to secondary education. Here they face new challenges, new content, and some may face the change of school, which could be near or far from their community.
4. Motivating teachers: part of our methodology in the project is to motivate teachers to get involved beyond the classroom hours, optimize evaluation methods, and incorporate new teaching methods to foster a better relationship between teacher and scholarship recipient.
5. Promoting the development of new skills, creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and reading.
