In the month of March, 2 years have passed since the schools closed their doors due to the COVID 19 pandemic, leaving 874,200 basic-level students in the state of Oaxaca without classes. Since then, students have had to face the challenges of distance education, especially those who live in poverty, who lack home internet and a computer to carry out their school activities, they have suffered the most serious academic lag in the history. To the above, we can add the stress that children present, for not being able to respond adequately with their schoolwork, for being left alone at home because their parents have to go out to work, for not having adults to take care of them and help them in their chores, for taking on responsibilities at home and taking care of their siblings.
Faced with this problem, Crecemos DIJO has opened its doors to carry out academic reinforcement activities in person at its different community centers because we want to be a help to children and their parents when they need it most. Despite the fact that the number of infections has been increasing, especially at the beginning of the year, we have not stopped receiving children and helping them with their homework, providing academic tutoring to reinforce school content and continue learning. The children have returned with great academic difficulties, lack of concentration and attention, but with a lot of patience and professionalism, the teachers have helped them overcome these obstacles; We have been able to see the progress they have made. Reading, writing and logical-mathematical thinking have been worked on with them, among other topics.
The damage caused by the pandemic has been of incalculable magnitude, children need our support more than ever, that we do not leave them alone, and Crecemos DIJO with your support is contributing a grain of sand by providing this help to more than 500 girls and children from the state of Oaxaca.
