Juan is 4 years old, he lives in the Monte Albán neighborhood with his parents and his 9-year-old brother. He had just turned his first year of life when the pandemic surprised the world around him, so this led Juan and his family to cloister themselves in their home, thus limiting social contact or only seeing and interacting with the world half-heartedly. seeing the faces around them covered with masks. So this resulted in Juan having difficulties interacting with his environment when the pandemic ended, and also having language difficulties and anxious attachment. In 2022 he enters our community center “María de Guadalupe”, where he has participated and participates in recreational activities such as: music-games, receives a nutritious breakfast every morning and trains soccer, in addition, he has access to the baby library where You can read books that help you relate to your mother in a more emotional way and that allow you to enrich your communication skills.
Thanks to the music-game classes and the loan of books, as well as access to books in the library; Juan has made a lot of progress. Nowadays he is able to interact in a friendlier way with his peers and with adults, he can now communicate through words and better pronounce them, he is now more willing to play without the presence of his mother and he already performs the activities in a more autonomous way.
Juan is 2 years away from finishing his early childhood stage, which is why it is so important that he continues to have within reach spaces that foster learning environments that allow him to develop his cognitive, socio-emotional and physical skills.
The María de Guadalupe community center is a recreational space and a space of opportunities for many children who, like Juan, were born or developed during the first years of their lives during the pandemic and who, in early childhood, are experiencing consequences due to it. Your donations and generous contributions help spaces like the María de Guadalupe community center continue to be open doors to hope and the healthy physical, socio-emotional and cognitive development of the girls and boys of the Monte Albán neighborhood.
