Dear Friends:
We are very pleased to contact you again through our quarterly reports.
One of the activities on which we focused in this period was that the education team made methodological adjustments to the training cycle “Menstrual Health and Hygiene”, for girls and boys with the results of the intervention in the first school, The training cycle for girls and adolescent women consists of three descriptive letters (adolescence, acceptance and respect of the body, menstruation, menstrual supplies) with all their educational materials according to the context, the training cycle for boys and adolescent men has two descriptive letters ( adolescence, acceptance and respect for the body) with its educational materials according to the context and identified needs.
Each descriptive letter has support materials regarding the topic and it should be noted that the education and health areas participate and agree on the activities of the descriptive letters, as well as the preparation and search for materials.
Technical training videos that are understandable for the group of participants are also edited and prepared and it is an activity in the education area that is reviewed and approved by everyone.
A menstrual calendar was designed, which is printed as required in the workshops with girls and adolescents. In addition, a menstrual kit was created that consists of a pink box containing: ecological feminine pads, disposable feminine towels, toilet paper rolls, bar and soap holder, ibuprofen tablets, underwear and black plastic bags. This kit is delivered in the last workshop with the girls and adolescents, where they form a Committee for its safekeeping and use within the school. For this school year, the supplies for the school menstruation kits will be replaced as they are required.
Within the training cycle, which consists of three workshops on sexual and reproductive health and menstruation aimed at secondary school youth from 1st to 3rd grade, these were carried out simultaneously, separating women and men to generate an environment of trust, in addition to allow them to express their doubts and concerns.
The topic of I know my body and menstruation part 1 and 2 was facilitated, with a duration of one day each, with the girls and adolescents facilitated by the education promoter, assisted by a bilingual nurse or a volunteer and in the group of men. facilitated by Mariano De la Torre, coordinator of the education team, and addresses the subtopic of “adolescence” with a duration of two days.
The period of the third workshop of the training cycle that began last quarter at the secondary school of Chichihuistan with the topic: preparation of menstrual supplies was completed and a fourth workshop was added for the delivery of a menstrual kit and the formation of a committee of young women and a workshop with men on the topic of acceptance and respect for the body.
In total, three workshops were implemented at the 1510 “Miguel Álvarez del Toro” telesecondary school in the community of Chichihuistan, municipality of Teopisca, of which there was a total attendance of 20 participants: 55% were women; and 45%, men.
Thanks to your great support we will continue so that these training cycles, so valuable for Tsotsil girls and boys, are carried out in other schools.

Estimados Amigos:
