"The health of vulnerable minors keeps us busy"

We are very pleased to greet you and to present this report of our project “Health care of Tsotsile indigenous children, in the Highlands of Chiapas, México” that has been worked on during the period from January to September 2023.

We have treated 370 minors under 18 years of age, in a total of 1,716 consultations (5 average consultations per person) in 7 Tsotsil localities in the Altos de Chiapas with the main diagnoses:

• 401 minors  have had acute respiratory infection

• 230 minors have chronic malnutrition. 4 minors presented acute malnutrition.

• 236 minors are in normal nutritional status

1,021 consultations were provided to the female gender, 357 consultations for minors have been attended at the San Cristóbal de las Casas clinic. 1,351 were treated in the 7 locations. The localities with the highest percentage of attention were: Naranjatik Alto with 24.46%, Canalumtic with 17.39%.

We follow up on the treatment of diagnoses in subsequent consultations, providing the medication free of charge. We continue working with the surveillance groups: Growth and development for children under 5 years of age, as well as Pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

The cases that Sanando Heridas cannot attend are channeled to the corresponding health centers, with the necessary support and accompaniment.

Consultations are provided in the mother tongue, 75% are in Tsotsil. The total amount received for this project in the indicated period is 2,951.44 USD

“La salud de menores en estado vulnerable en los Altos de Chiapas nos mantiene ocupados”

Nos da mucho gusto saludarlos, así como presentarles este reporte de nuestro proyecto “El cuidado de la salud de los niños indígenas tsotsiles, en Chiapas México” que se ha trabajado durante el período de enero a septiembre de 2023.

Hemos atendido 370 menores de 18 años, en un total de 1716 consultas (5 consultas promedio por persona) en 7 localidades tsotsiles de los Altos de Chiapas con los principales diagnósticos:

• 401 menores han presentado infección respiratoria aguda

• 230 menores tienen desnutrición crónica. 4 menores presentaron desnutrición aguda.

• 236 menores se encuentran en estado nutricional normal

1021 consultas se facilitaron al género femenino, 357 consultas de los menores han sido atendidas en la clínica de San Cristóbal de las Casas. 1351 se atendieron en las 7 localidades. Las localidades con mayor porcentaje de atención de fueron: Naranjatik Alto con un 24.46%, Canalumtic con un 17.39%.

Damos seguimiento al tratamiento de los diagnósticos en consultas subsecuentes, entregando el medicamento de manera gratuita. Seguimos trabajando con los grupos de vigilancia: Crecimiento y desarrollo para menores de 5 años, así como el del Embarazo parto y puerperio.

Los casos que Sanando Heridas no puede atender, se canalizan a los centros de salud correspondientes, con el apoyo y acompañamiento necesarios.

Las consultas se facilitan en lengua materna, el 75% son en tsotsil.

El monto total recibido para este proyecto en el período señalado es de $50,175.
