Next planting is in March
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
As with most places on the globe this year, 2020 has been hard on the people in NE Uganda. Their villages are very remote so it has been easier for them to stay isolated, but they are still in danger. In the summer they had a wave of locuts come from Kenya and had some crop damage. Then they had very heavy rains whcih washed out some of their crops. It has been a tough year. The next crops will be planted in March and we hope to purchase the farm equipment then. Thank you for your help with this project. We expect to see a great improvemnt in the quality and quantity of their crops.

We hope to make some purchases in November 2020
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
we are making progress on this significant project. We have found some good used equipment and hope to be able to purchase some of it in Novewmber. The NGO we partner with in Uganda is going to use the equipment not only to help the villagers prepare their crops, but also plant crops of their own to sell so that they can move toward finacial self-sufficiency. The next round of crops will be planted in December.
The crops that they are harvesting now look really good. The Ugandan NGO also raised some funds toward equipement purchases by charging farmers to plow their fields. A great return on the investment we made in the tractor.
Thank you for your help and encouragment.

Still a ways to go!
By Michael Hildenbrand | Project Leader
This project has several benefits when fully funded. It will help the 15,000 residents in two very poor remote villages in NE Uganda be able to better prepare their fields, have higher crop yeilds and be able to plant faster ahead of the rains. With higher crop yields they will have enough food for their families and excess to sell to help raise thier subsistance standard of living.
Additionally, another goal is for the non-profit we work with there to raise their own crops to eventually become financially independent from outside funds.
They are in the rainy season right now, having just planted their fields by hand. The next round of crop planting will be in August which is when we would like to have the equipment ready for them.
