The late fall rains are helping

After two years of failed crops in NE Uganda, the rains have come and seeds have been planted.  Several hundred acres were plowed by a tractor that was purchsed by one of our partners. We have hope that this planting season will be a turn around for these dear people. For the past two years we have helped them with food thorugh our famine relief efforts.  We are also investigating the possibility of planting Cashew trees in the area that are drought resistent and could provide them with a source of income apart from their normal crops.  I will visit the area next week and can give a report when I return.  Thank you for your support.

After two years of significant crop failures, the villagers are preparing to plant crops again in a couple of months.  We have helped with famine relief funds to keep people alive.  We are currently helping with funds to purchase a large amount of seeds for planting since most of the villagers have run out of seeds due to the crop failure.  We continue to raise funds for more farm equipment to better prepare the soil for a quick planting when the rains arrive.  Our NGO partner in Uganda is shopping for used farm equipment.  We had planned to be on the ground in Uganda last December, but the Ebola outbreak cause us to delay our trip.  We now plan to travel to Uganda in May.  Thank you for your ongoing support of this project.
