We are so happy to share with you that this year, you've helped us to put 37 women through midwifery training, who by the end of November, will graduate in El Fasher and return to their villages to take care of their own communities, ensuring all mothers and babies have proper care. 2018 also saw the graduation of new paravets, both men and women, who have been trained and given the tools to look after the animals that Kids for Kids has given to families in their villages. Women who are midwives and paravets have a qualification, a means to earn an income, and a much higher status in their villages. You have helped them to achieve this. You have changed their lives for good.
There are over 900 villages in Darfur and to date we have adopted 92. Every year without fail, Kids for Kids adopts new villages. We will begin our 2019 selection process in January, solidify our new villages, and begin our inception meetings shortly after - bringing our goat loan, water projects, basic essentials to the new villages as quickly and efficiently as possible. By helping mothers to earn something for themselves we are empowering them within their communities so they are listened to, and bear in mind, our beneficiaries are the poorest in each village. Volunteers will be selected and trained in first aid, veterinary, and midwifery. Last year we were only able to adopt five small villages, meaning in 2019 there will be even more villages begging us to be adopted.
Right now is the most crucial time of year for Kids for Kids. The number of women who, next year, will receive our life-saving projects, depends largely on the funds we have coming in from now until the end of the year. Your donations now will determine the number of new children that will benefit directly from our projects, because we will never adopt a village unless we are 100% certain we can provide all of our basic projects. If you give now, you will enable us to adopt more/bigger villages, providing 15% of families in each village with a way to change their futures in the new year.
