Dear Friends,
As we close out 2024 and usher in 2025, I want to first start with a word of gratitude. We had the most incredible fundraising year ever and gained many new supporters. Thank you!
The Gbedavo farm is doing well, but it is still a challenge to realize an overall profit due to the high cost of tractor maintenance, fuel, seeds and fertilizer. The good news is that figures project that the farm will turn a good profit in two years. We are well aware of the issues with start-up costs under usual circumstances and the added stress of inflation due to the pandemic and other factors. We are confident in the farmer, expert consultants, and the assistants in their efforts. An adjacent property, also owned by Association Saint Camille (ASC), will be developed with teak trees and orchards after the current farm is doing well economically.
We continue to celebrate the grand opening of the nearby addiction center in Dassa, Benin which occurred in August 2024. The farm supports the center by providing food and jobs to patients in recovery.
We appreciate your continued support in these endeavors. A first quarter budget report will be provided.
Happy New Year and best wishes on behalf of our partners in West Africa.
Sincerely, Jocelyn
