Dear Friends,
A recent visit to Gbedavo, near Dassa, Benin, confirms that the farm is coming along well. Fifteen hectares (37 acres) are now cultivated under the leadership of an expert farmer from France. The farmer has been in residence there for 2 years and has implemented techniques to make the land productive. He is training workers, some of whom are clients in recovery from the new Dassa addiction treatment center. This farm, once productive, will sustain meals at the treatment centers and farm produce will be sold to the general public.
An adjacent 35 hectare (86 acre) property will be developed into a larger orchard and teak trees which grow there in abundance. Pending funding and the outcome of the smaller farm, clearing is scheduled for 2025.
Thank you for your interest and support of Association Saint Camille (ASC) in these exciting endeavors. It was an honor to visit as a member of the USA affiliate and advocacy group, Treatment Not Chains (www.treatmentnotchains.org).
Best regards,
Jocelyn
