Our network of digital champions in Mara region have been educating their communities about the dangers of Female Genital Mutilation and helping girls at risk by mapping the safe places in remote villages so that activists can better find and protect them for the last four years. They have also been reporting cases of gender based violence to the police using a free app called ODK (Open Data Kit) and teaching women digital skills.
We have now started training a new network on Digital Champions in Morogoro region. These are young women from rural communities who are learning how to map their villages and then teach women and girls these and other digital skills. They will also run girls' clubs in the villages to help empower disadvantaged girls by advocating for girls' rights and against child marriage and FGM.
Thank you again for your support.
