We are thrilled to share our progress to date. Thanks to your generous support in 2022 we completed the installation of
1. A solar water pump
2. A water storage tank with a capacity of 10,000 liters
3. Water purification system
4. 5 Washing stations
With the equipment that facilitate the access and safe delivery of clean water to the 1,367 students as well as the staff and support workers. The hand washing stations have been strategically placed to reinforce handwashing at the school; with some near the bathrooms and dining areas.
We have received positive responses from students, teachers, parents and the community leaders. Teachers have reported a decrease in absenteeism as a result from illness such as diarrhea. We believe that access to safe water while at school, where students spend the majority of their day, is a factor to these results. We hope to add more washing stations in the future.
In 2023 the focus will be on building a bathroom with running water. This will be a big project because we will need to dig a well. We have asked a local contractor to send in their bids and plans. It has been shown that access to adequate sanitation has improved student retention and performance across the globe. Please consider joining us and donate to this cause today!
