Moodlebox for digital literacy and Little library Update 

Introduction:

This quarterly report provides an update on the progress and impact of the Moodlebox for digital literacy project implemented by Rural Literacy Solutions. The project aims to enhance educational outcomes by providing access to digital resources and improving digital literacy skills among students and teachers. 

Project Status:

During this quarter, Rural Literacy Solutions successfully implemented the Moodlebox for digital literacy project in Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School and Watania Primary School. The following achievements and outcomes have been accomplished:

Implementation of Moodlebox: Two Raspberry Pi 400 devices and 30 tablet and phone devices were purchased and distributed to the two project schools. These devices enabled students to access Open Educational Resources (OER) in reading and numeracy courses through the Moodlebox platform.

Beneficiaries: A total of 50 children from Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School and Watania Primary School have directly benefited from the Moodlebox project. They gained access to digital resources and experienced improved educational outcomes in reading and numeracy courses.

Improved Digital Literacy Skills: In addition to benefiting students, the project has also enhanced the digital literacy skills of teachers in the two schools. Teachers have received training on how to use Moodlebox effectively in their classrooms, resulting in improved teaching methods and increased engagement among students.

Positive Feedback: The implementation of the Moodlebox project has received positive feedback from both teachers and students. Teachers have noted increased student interest and higher-quality work as a result of incorporating digital devices into their teaching practices.

Challenges:

Despite the progress made, Rural Literacy Solutions encountered the following challenges during the implementation of the project:

Limited Resources: Due to resource constraints, it has been challenging to provide devices to all children who would benefit from them and expand the program to include all project schools. Limited funding and availability of digital devices have posed obstacles to the project's scalability.

Update on Little Library Project:

In addition to the Moodlebox for digital literacy project, Rural Literacy Solutions has also been running the Little Library Project, which aims to promote a love for reading and improve literacy levels among children. This update provides information on the progress and impact of the Little Library Project for the past four months.

Project Update:

Since the inception of the Little Library Project, Rural Literacy Solutions has successfully impacted over 2000 children who have borrowed one or more books from our libraries. These libraries have been set up in strategic locations within the schools we serve, making books easily accessible to children.

Achievements:

Book Borrowing: Over the past four months, more than 500 children have actively engaged with our Little Libraries by borrowing books for reading. This demonstrates a growing interest in reading among children in the community.

Promoting Literacy: By providing access to a wide variety of books, the Little Library Project has contributed to improving literacy levels among children. Regular access to books encourages reading habits and helps develop essential literacy skills, including reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking.

Community Engagement: The Little Library Project has not only benefited individual children but has also fostered community engagement. Parents, teachers, and community members have shown support and involvement in encouraging children to utilize the libraries and develop a passion for reading.
