Dear partner,
We begin this report by thanking you for all the contributions that have contributed immensely to the execution of our integral, ecological and sustainable education project. In a year of new beginnings, it was essential to have your support!
The school year in Brazil runs from February to December, so the last few months have been spent finalizing and planning for 2023. And we have some important actions to share, as well as some news!
Our "Garden project", a permanent project that aims to “promote environmental education for children, based on permaculture, in an eco-aesthetic perspective through practical and theoretical activities articulating content from different areas of knowledge”, continues to strengthen our community and a sustainable and ecological conscience from the practices carried out in the laboratories: vegetable garden, gardens, backyard.
In the month of November, when we celebrate a date of struggle in Brazil, the day of “Black Consciousness”, we consider the importance of the African people in the formation of our country, Brazil, and we carried out actions for cultural strengthening, awareness about social prejudice and racism and its harmful consequences. Through cooking, dancing, games, stories, braiding hair and viewing documentaries, we strengthen and value the heritage of African peoples. We also had dance, music and capoeira performances from parents and school friends.
We also carried out the arts project, which aims to contribute to the aesthetic literacy of children based on stimuli given for the production, appreciation and contextualization of works of art, through individual and collective activities, providing a greater understanding of the area of Visual arts. Several experiments were carried out with elements of nature: production of natural paints, drying of leaves, flowers, seeds and productions based on these elements, with the collaboration of the father of one of the children at the school.
The second semester was also marked by the resumption of music classes. We managed to have a teacher with us who developed musicalization classes weekly with our children.
In December, each group presented the research projects they developed throughout the year, covering the following themes: “Garden Insects”; the 1st year, “Who am I?”; the 2nd year, “Medicinal Herbs”; the 3rd year, “Water”, the 4th year, “The Solar System” and the 5th year, “Identity”.
We ended the year with the strength of the collective, sustaining the continuity of the school, which now completes 30 years of existence. And, as a novelty, we have a group of families and educators organizing the expansion of the education offer, for Elementary School II. Thus, starting in 2023, we will also serve teenagers aged 11 to 15, in the afternoon shift. This is an old dream that is about to come true!
We continue to look for partners and contributions to maintain our project, especially now that we will have an expansion of the team of teachers. We are confident that the strength of this project, which will also be guided by ecological education, in an interdisciplinary perspective, considering students as researchers and agents of social transformation, will be expanded and may serve as an inspiration for many educators and schools around the world!
Your contribution is fundamental to this process! Receive our gratitude and affection!
If you haven`t already committed to a monthly donation I wonder if you could consider it? If everyone contributes a bit we can do powerful things. The secret of crowd funding isn`t in the funds, it`s in the crowd.
All the best!
