After months of COVID-19 restrictions we were finally able to visit, in person, with all three of our Young Legend students. It was so nice to get updates from each of them about how their schooling is going, what they're learning, both in and out of class, and to see for ourselves the progress they are making.
Sharon (far left) has gotten a certificate in Public Health and is now in her first year of her diploma course. When she graduates, this diploma will open the door for many job opportunities, such as working for the government's Health Administration. We are so proud of Sharon and the hard work she has put into her future career.
Juliet (far right) is finishing up her diploma course this year in Secretarial Studies. Juliet boldly communicated how grateful she is to NR for providing her with the opportunity to continue her studies, and how this opportunity has changed her life. She said that she is excited to get her own job when she is finished with school so that she can be able to provide for herself, her family, and help others the way that we have helped her.
Finally, Jared, (pictured by himself in a shop that says "Mpesa") has just finished his certificate program in Human Resources. He is currently on break between his certificate and his diploma course, which he will start in September, and has taken this opportunity to start his own business. The picture here is of him at his shop, which he started all by himself! Jared has shown great initiative and we are so excited to see how this will enable him to help pay for his own school expenses, which he is responsible for paying, as well as supporting his family back home.
We are so proud of the growth and dedication of our Young Legends. When we first met these students, all three were total orphans and the families who had taken them in struggled with providing for their basic needs, let alone providing them with an opportunity to continue their educations past high school. It is through your support of our Young Legend program that we have been able to come along side of these students to provide them with this opportunity for higher education they would not have had otherwise. We are so proud of how far they have come as they near the end of their course work and earn degrees that will allow them to be employable, self-sustainable adults. Their success would not have been possible without your support. All three of them and us, thank you for the sacrifice you have made on their behalf!
