African Angels visit Belgravia Art Centre

By Lou Billett | Chairperson

Indiphile and Lutho visit Belgravia
Indiphile and Lutho visit Belgravia

Our grade 7 class have been lucky enough to have superb art classes this year with Lynne Farrenkothen, a local graphic designer, who volunteers once a week at African Angels.  The kids have learnt and experienced a wide range of art techniques, including batik, self portraits and sculpting.  Lynne mounted and hung some of the Grade 7 works at the recent Belgravia Art Centre in East London.  The learners visited the exhibition this August and were delighted to see some of their works hung.  Indiphile Velebay's self portrait was awarded a gold.

Our visual arts studio is now refurbished and is being used by the learners for their art lessons.  Thank you for your incredible donation to support art for the African Angels.  We were lucky enough to have a member of the Global Giving team visit the school and the studio in July, to verify the work that we are doing.

African Angels has just launched their 200 Club that we hope will see 200 supporters making monthly recurring donations to support the work of the African Angels Independent School.  Please spread the word about this campaign and recurring donations can be made through the Global Giving African Angels Independent School project page.

To become more self funded, African Angels has launched the African Angels Budget Accommodation where the hostel facilities at the school can be hired for school and church camps.  Early interest in the accommodation has been encouraging and we hope this will make the school more self sustaining.

Thank you again for supporting African Angels.  We will keep you updated on our progress and latest initiatives.

Lou, the team at African Angels, and the Angels themselves.
