Dear supporters,
In these reports we, understandably, tend to highlight the wonderful young parents who participate in the Nurse-Family Partnership program and their bautiful babies. However, this time round we want to do something different - we want to put in the spotlight the wonderful staff who is making miracles come true.
The Nurse-Family Partnership program in Bulgaria has two teams in the two biggest cities in the countries - Sofia and Plovdiv - where some of the biggest Roma neighbourhoods on the Balkans are also found. Five qualified nurses and midwives in each city work tirelessly every day to support vulnerable young first-time moms on the rocky road of parenthood. Each of them performs 57 visits on average to each family, until the little one turns two. As you can imagine, the relationships that the home-visiting nurse develops with each young parent is a strong and a close one.
The other people who are on the field every day are our health mediators - people without whom this important work would be impossible. They are women from the communities we serve who have received a qualification to do mediator work and who are vital for the program to reach the most vulnerable families.
Your support helps their work reach precisely those most vulnerable families and provide material support to the people for whom even the basics, such as baby clothes and cosmetics, are unavailable.
Please consider donating and sharing our campaign with your networks - your help is invaluable!
