We want to thank you all, our supporters, for everything we have accomplished in this last months. In our last report we shared with you our achievement of 3.000 trees planted. Now we have planted 3.000 more native species trees for a total of 6.000 new trees in our Jaguar del Carrizal Natural Reserve!!! Among this number there are more than 1.000 individuals of 3 endangered species included in the Red List of IUCN.
We are getting closer to the 10.000 trees goal we set, and we just started a project focused on endangered tree species through which we will be reproducing more than 15 different species and planting them all along the Caribbean Region in Colombia, including of course our Reserve but also making alliances with neighboring ecosystems where these trees are starting to be difficult to find, supporting them and aiming at the consolidation of conservation corridors that can support fauna endangered species like Jaguars.
We have continued spreading awareness of the importance the Tropical Dry Forest and helping communities to protect their forests by understanding how to benefit from them without compromising their conservation. Trainings on utilization of the plants available in our ecosystems have made possible for their inhabitants to find alternative income sources improving their life quality and broadening the spectrum of sustainable ways of living.
Our Foundation recently organized a meeting so this net of our project Sister Greenhouses could get together and exchange their experiences and learned lessons. Along with these families and communities we worked on a plan on how to continue taking care of their forests by strengthening alliances among our net in 4 main topics: protection and reproduction of endangered species, alternative strategies for defending non-governmental conservation areas, protection of water, and solidarity economy. Making our net wider and stronger will allow us to continue working on the conservation of water and Jaguars, and this net of course include all our donators too!
