Today, we would like to share more about the content of the virtual tour with you!
Our first virtual tour will be a 20-minute introductory virtual visit of the Gallery. It will give you an overview of the works and the life of Iri and Toshi Maruki, the history of the Gallery, and our recent activities. You will see the main works of the Marukis with an explanation given by the Gallery’s curator, as well as the beautiful images of the gallery grounds and its surroundings.
The Hiroshima Panels and the Marukis themselves have travelled all over the world, but there are few records of the early world tours. This video will unfold the untold stories of how the works of the Marukis have been received overseas in the past and today. There will also be interviews of people who have been touched by the Marukis and their works.
We would also like to share The Hiroshima Panels Visualize Violence: Imagination over Life, a journal article by Yukinori Okamura, the curator of the Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels. This article gives an overview of the experience and works of Marukis, the Japan-wide and international tours of the Hiroshima Panels, the construction of the Gallery, as well as some visual images.
In our next report, we will introduce the director of the virtual tour!
We hope that this fundraising campaign will enable new demographics from around the world to be immersed in the works of the Marukis and be inspired by their universal message.
Please keep spreading the word on this project!
With appreciation,
Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels
