This last quarter has been slow in our foster care project. With the Omicron wave, the Thai government has not been placing children in foster homes but keeping them at the orphanage. However, our former foster children are doing great. The two that were with Heather both have summer jobs (March-May) and are now over 18 so they will be housesitting for Heather while she travels to the US.
Jay and Butsaba's former foster girls are doing well in school but anxious to be back to in person learning, hopefully in the new year in May.
The foster care system is changing so the government shelter asked us to go through the process again filling out more detailed applications and doing an interview with a panel of child protection workers. We are happy that the process is becoming more detailed for better child protection. We hope to complete the new requirements by the end of August and start taking short term placements in the fall.
