Since our last update, Heather's oldest foster daughter moved into her own apartment! She has been with Heather on and off since age 16 and just turned 20 so it was a good time to transition her into independent living. She will start college in the spring.
Heather is in the process of renewing her foster care license under the updated government system and will likely take on a new foster child in the new school year.
We had some devastating news about one of our former foster children. Butsaba and Jay provided foster care for 2 sisters as their first short term placement. The older sister, Sarah, would have turned 18 on Dec 30, but on Dec 29, she was driving home from her birthday party and was hit and killed by a drunk driver. It has been difficult for us all to process this tragedy.
Butsaba and Jay's current foster son is doing well, he is learning more about trust and responsibility and is doing well in school. He is a wonderful older brother to their toddler and enjoys spending time with Butsaba's college age nephew, who also lives with them.
Thank you for your support. The Thai government only provides $50 a month for foster care support, and it costs about $250 a month to feed and clothe a child, so we rely on support from sponsors to be able to provide for these children in need. You can become a monthly sponsor or provide an additional gift through GlobalGiving if you would like to.
