The struggle continues for truth, justice and comprehensive reparation

Hello fellow defender!!

2023 started strong, join us in this follow-up of the month.

This month of March, Frayba has presented to the public an advocacy campaign that seeks to make visible the ways of the guilty factory and how the Mexican State disassociates itself from the reparation of the damage, which according to the lawyers of this Rights Center the solution that has been sought through the Mexican government is not functional, offering an amount of money that only works to silence complaints.

Damage reparation must not only be monetary or economic, but comprehensive reparation that represents the minimum conditions for damage to physical and psychological health, life project, material damage, as well as to guarantee the truth, satisfaction and non-repetition of theguilty and torture factory in Chiapas.

The prisons in Chiapas are full of people who have been subjected to unfair processes and torture. The guilty factory is a generalized and articulated system, where people-especially poor people, without economic or educational resources-become just a number, a record.

Frayba has detected a common pattern: they detain people without any arrest warrant for minor charges, usually drug possession or petty theft- 24 to 48 hours later they are released- those 24 hours are used by the prosecution to generate a new folder ofinvestigation for a more serious crime - homicide, or kidnapping- During the time that they are detained they are severely tortured to obtain a statement of a crime they did not commit.

In recent reports we have share you the stories of some fellows who were victims and survivors of torture, the grievances that were committed against them and their families;and how together we seek reparation for damages, justice and truth. We have many stories to tell that should NOT BE FORGOTTEN: Gérman, Abraham, Marcelino, Juan, Adrian, Cesar, Jonny, Luis, Carlos, the list goes on.

We share with you the information that we have recovered and documented, his words, the work we do for the search for truth,  as well as the material for all of us to share.Together we can demand that Torture be eradicated in Chiapas, as well as in the rest of the country.

YOUR HELP MATTERS.
