Merry Christmas & Thank you, Together we are Changing Children's World's

By Joe Cummiskey | Founder/ Director

Children who recently joined our care & protection

Sending you and your family many special greetings from Uganda and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year full of joy and happiness.

What a great year we have had thanks to you, our friends and supporters and all our staff and volunteers on the ground, as we continue to be the voice and action of the poorest of the poor, supporting more of the most vulnerable children living in the slums of Namuwongo.

The true impact of your kindness and support is never easy to explain, in words or pictures, but seeing it first-hand is something so personally rewarding that we only wish you could also personally see it (you would be very welcome to come and visit/ volunteer and see this first hand, simply drop us an email).

Your support has enabled us to do so much which is often hard to keep you all up to date with, however a few of the key highlights include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchased our very own Mini Bus with a wheelchair lift for those that need
  • 38 vulnerable children joined our care & protection through child sponsorship
  • We opened our new community outreach centre in the heart of Namuwongo, providing more vulnerable children with access to a safe space and protection
  • We opened our new pre-baby class, supporting 24 children between 2 & 3yrs
  • We are expanding our special needs classroom facilities to be more inclusive and supportive to every child in our care (fundraising ongoing).
  • We held our annual athletics/ sports day in memory of one of our great friends and supporter Michael, & were honoured to Michaels family here for it.
  • We started a new reading programme thanks to our partners ‘Read to Learn’
  • The installation and opening our new Digital Classroom thanks to the support from the American Towers Corporation
  • New guitar & music lessons – physical and virtual classes now taking place
  • Virtual classes now take place in English/ Maths/ Science/ Dance & Music.
  • New Science Lab equipement thanks to the local Diplomatic Spouses Association's support
  • Registered a GAA club supporting the local community (Gaelic sports/ Dance)
  • Scouts and cubs - Our Adventure scouts attended their first camp

Our new outreach centre will provide immediate refuge and safety for children at high risk within the community, as well as provide them with access to basic literacy classes, health awareness and skills trainings, as well as the chance to learn to sing, dance and play music, a special space where children can be safe and have fun.

With so much need here we are always looking for new volunteers to come and join our team, to share their skills and experiences and to see first-hand the impact we are making together. There is also the great need to find more individual sponsors to help us transform more children’s worlds.

We cannot change the world but ‘Together’ we are certainly changing many children’s World’s.

If you would like to get more involved and support our work in any way then we would love to hear from you, so please do get in touch with us; joseph@onlinehope.org

Our sincere thanks once again for making all this life changing work possible,

Wishing you the very best for 2025,

kind regards

Joe
