Project Report | Feb 12, 2025
Clean Water for Mountain Communities

By Marcus Fey | CFO

For the past several months, the Clean Water team has been visiting numerous Lahu villages in northern Thailand to assess their water resources and urgent supply needs. Through these assessments, we are identifying and prioritizing the most pressing clean water challenges and determining which projects will have the greatest impact on the largest communities.

One critical and recurring issue in many rural Lahu villages is the need to replace aging water storage tanks and filtration systems. Many of these tanks have deteriorated over time, developing leaks that cause a loss of clean water, leading to water shortages several times a month. Additionally, many filtration systems are no longer functioning efficiently due to rust and lack of proper maintenance, putting entire communities at risk.

Reliable access to clean water is essential for strengthening families, allowing parents to provide a safe and healthy environment for their children. When communities have a stable water supply, families can focus on education, work, and overall well-being rather than the daily struggle to secure clean water. As funding becomes available, we are making plans to replace these failing water tanks and filtration systems, starting with the villages in greatest need. Your support helps ensure that rural Lahu communities have reliable access to clean water, which is essential for the health of their families and the sustainability of their farms.

Our foundation is committed to finding creative and sustainable ways to help communities thrive for the long term. Beyond emergency relief, we work to implement lasting solutions like improved water infrastructure, community training, and resource management strategies. Thank you for being part of this life-changing work!
