2022 Second trimester Education report

To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are challenging, but we face them with optimism and a lot of energy. We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thanks for all your support.
Actions accomplished
- We continue with our reinforcement program in reading comprehension, literacy, and mathematics at 8 schools.
- We started an incentive program to motivate students' effort in math. We will reward the students daily, based on the progress shown in the classroom.
- The first performance evaluation of the year was made to to know the progress during the first two months. Results will be reported in June.
- Mother´s day celebration at 8 schools, we distributed 27 baskets to the teachers
- Amashca school 1st anniversary, we distributed 11 soccer balls to team that won the soccer tournament
- Psychology workshops: Starting this year we are providing psychological support to all the children of our 8 schools. Through workshops that reinforce mental. Evaluations were performed during the first trimester and workshops were carried out at Pariacaca, Amashca and Punyán together with our volunteer Isabella Villalobos.
- 154 Tablets are available for the children at 8 schools’ libraries.
- Three psychology workshops held for schools’ teachers and principals
- Mision Huascaran soccer tournament held in July 2022
- More than 60% of the students are in "process" in reading comprehension skills as result of the 2 years lack of classes during the pandemic, without promoting the habit of reading
- During June we began a reading comprehension workshop with the 14 high school students of Punyan school
- Teacher’s day celebration on July 6th, we distributed a small recognition to all the teachers.
- In July we performed the second skills evaluation to our children.
- We continue with Pesquera Diamante videos screening at Congar, Pisca, Utupampa and Huashcao schools were the children learned about Personal hygiene.
- Pisca, Utupampa and Huashcao schools also viewed video Nr.6 about talents identification
- The first week of July celebrated Huashcao school anniversary, where Mision Huascaran teacher was invited as jury of the typical dishes contest.

2022 First Trimester report

We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thankk you for all your support.
Actions accomplished
- January and February Summer School in 6 towns – 81% attendance. Children enjoyed every workshop and were eager to attend. We provided academic support (reading, writing and math skills), emotional support (fine motor skills, concentration, relaxation, sensorial integration, coordination skills) and recreational activities (crafts, mini chefs, play doh)
- Successful campaign via social media “Donate a school supplies kit for a child”. Reached goal: 300 kits and “Let`s build a library together” Reached goal: 3 new equipped libraries
- Printing of Math and Communication/literacy materials to be used during 2022 school year
- BEE READERS new Library platform installed in the children’s tablets
- NEW SCHOOL added to the Education program at Pariaqaqa. We had a meeting with Pariaqaqa principal and Parents board to set up 2022 action plan for library installation
- Psychological support workshops for children and diagnostic evaluations of the new schools.
- Start of the 2022 Education Program in 8 schools

2021 Fourth Trimester Education report

To our donors,
The “Mision Huascaran” team wishes you and your loved ones find themselves in good health. These times are challenging, but we face them with optimism and a lot of energy. We continue to advance in our educational project “Sponsor a child's education for USD 10 per month”. We would like to share our progress and thanks for all your support.
The new normal has led us to redefine the ways in which we provide education to children, especially in the rural areas where we work.
Actions accomplished
- Meetings with principals to plan 2022 school year.
- Utupampa: we started to work in person in the library, twice a week. We coordinated with the teachers and principal with the intention to not disrupt school hours
- Congar: we continue supporting teachers and using the school installations.
- Punyan: Does not have Ministry authorization to resume school activities (issues with the infrastructure). In 2022 the principal will be welcoming us if they receive authorization from the Ministry.
- Pisca: Principal Marlene refuses to give us access to the library. We will work our programs in coordination with the parent’s board and the mayor.
- Punyan: We continue with our in-person work every week
- During October, we awarded our children with a recognition for surpassing Reading comprehension and literacy goals.

- Mental health evaluation to 120 children to set up workshops for emotional support duringt 1st 2022 trimester
- We have improved our reach of children from 70% to 95%
- 2022 Education project plan ready for implementation. We will expand this program to another 3 schools, we will take care of additional 150 children (335 children in 7 schools)
