(Ver foto)

 ¿Vas a continuar tus estudios?

English version / Versión en inglés

Karen, 12, graduated from the Jenaro Aguirre School last month. She tells us, in her own words all about her nine-year journey at the School and her dreams for the future.

The following is a transcript of her hand written letter, which shows us the profound impact that the education of the “Jenaro” has had on her - “Jenaro” is how Karen refers to the Jenaro Aguirre Elorriaga School (Pictures of the hand written letter below).

Petare, July 2, 2017.

 My journey at the Jenaro

Hello, tell us about yourself, who are you?

Hi, my name is Karen Alejandra, I attend the Jenaro Aguirre School since pre-school and I’m currently in the sixth grade.

What does Jenaro Aguirre mean to you?

The Jenaro Aguirre School means joy, new opportunities. There are no words to describe what the Jenaro Aguirre means to me. It is a wonderful school that I will miss dearly.

How do you see yourself in the future?

I see myself as a studious girl who will accomplish her dreams of being a businesswoman and helping the school in the future.

Will you continue your studies?

Yes, I will attend the Diego Losada School. (*granted by Madre Maria Luisa Casar Foundation, the same one that support the Jenaro Aguirre School)

Are you excited about your graduation?

Yes, I am very excited!

Did you participate in any extra-curricular activities?

Yes, I did dance, art, theatre, cuatro (a Venezuelan string instrument) and singing at the Avila (*Centro de Artes Integradas del Colegio El Ávila). I was a part of the school chorus group (Pequeños Cantores de la Schola Cantorum de Venezuela - Núcleo Jenaro Aguirre) since pre-school and I was in a few plays such as Alice in Wonderland where I played the White Queen. (See picture below)

What will you miss about Jenaro Aguirre?

I will miss everything: my friends, the teachers, that joy we felt in special occasions, the different environment and decorations each month, and a lot more.

What did you like about Jenaro Aguirre?

I like how they decorate the school, they change it each month. For example: In the month of May it was decorated for Mother’s Day and it was also the month of Virgin Mary. June on the other hand was decorated for Father’s Day and Father Pedro Legaria.

Do you think Jenaro Aguirre is important? Why?

Yes, it helped me very much with my education, nutrition and healthcare. Other schools don’t offer lunch and the Jenaro Aguirre does. When I feel sick I know that the doctors will take care of me. The school also helps you get ahead. It teaches us that everything is possible, that a grain of sand goes a long way with the example of Madre María Luisa.
