SAFI 2023 Q1 Report

SAFI Team

Namaste Dear supporters, readers and animal lovers.

Over the last two months, much has been accomplished at SAFI.

CLINIC OPENING

Our tireless work fundraising, purchasing medications and supplies, and training our veterinarians to conduct mass sterilizations has brought us to an incredible milestone - every month we will be able to perform operations on 70 dogs! Frist sterilization was done on Jan 25th, 2023. Besides sterilizations, we treat injured animals. We are not equipped with other surgeries. We plan to buy a CBC hematology machine, skin test equipment, and sterilization equipment. Your donations will help us equip the clinic and thus save many animals.

With much anticipation, six special needs street dogs from India recently flown to America and four have been adopted into amazing forever homes! This accomplishment is one of the greatest successes that SAFI has seen, and we are so proud to have been a part of it. Our sincere thanks to our India shelter team Breath Animal Rescue Home for taking care of the complex logistics.

LUCKY-WE GOT YOUR BACK

Lucky now known as Lakshmi is our rescued Indian street dog. Their adopters in USA have touched our hearts with their kindness to Lakshmi, formerly known as Lucky - an Indian street pup that the world had given up on. But the loving couple opened their home - especially asking for a handicapped animal in need of a forever home. Miraculously they welcomed Lakshmi into their lives. Home at last after 10 months of planning Lakshmi, has arrived in Salt Lake City and can now be embraced by her loving parents. Witnessing snow for the first time was an enjoyable experience for her.

What an incredible transformation Lakshmi's life has undergone! After living as a paralyzed street dog in India, she now enjoys the comforts of an American couch. The adopters are the amazing people that made this possible - they are responsible for providing these dogs with wonderful lives.

BABU - HOSPICE TO LOVED

Babu, a street dog from India, had been struck hard in the head and we believed that he was receiving hospice care. In a situation that was far from certain, two strangers in Seattle, USA, applied to adopt Babu. Despite not knowing whether Babu would survive or not, they still accepted him as he was. In a remarkable tale of survival, the street dog Babu left his home in India.

Far from the bustling streets of India, Babu now lives with his family in Seattle, America. Surrounded by the love of his family, Babu embarks on a new journey in America - with Mom and Dad and two four-legged siblings. One of them hails from a Dog meat farm in Korea.

BARFI - A unique beauty, barfi boasts a smile of misaligned and crooked teeth.

Barfi was not deemed a desirable pup due to his Jaw fracture and Indian breed, leaving him with no adoption interest. When he was just one month old, he was discovered with a fractured jawbone. After surgery, as he grew older his teeth began to misalign and protrude outwards, causing many people to consider him ugly. An amazing adopter in Texas, USA saw beyond this and noticed something special in the pup; she chose to take Barfi into her home and provide him an adoptive family. Barfi flew over to the US. All Barfi's adopter wanted nothing more than to give him a safe home - looks simply didn't matter.

CHIKKI - a loyal companion who always shows love and loyalty to her owners.

The fact that Chikki was an Indian breed proved to be a curse, as sadly is tripod. These kinds of animals are subject to discrimination. With no interest in adopting her, her future looked grim, until and amazing adopter from Boston, USA noticed something special in the pup. Chikki's adopter saw beyond this and noticed something special in the pup; Despite what people thought of Chikki's breed and tripod, her adopter believed there was more to her than meets the eye and decided to adopt him.

Chikki traveled to America to unite with her owner - but she needs help covering the costs of international traveling. The cost is far more than adopter or our rescue organization can pay, so we are asking for your assistance in donating any amount you can spare. Upon landing in Miami CDC ordered a blood test and leishmaniasis tests to confirm her ear notch is not contagious. The results came out negative. But we incurred $2250 additional costs over what we have raised.

ALPHA - Alpha, a stunning pup with an imperfect limb, acquired a wealth of help.

We want to take a moment to express our deep appreciation for Hedl family of North Carolina, USA. They showed amazing kindness when they adopted one of our homeless Indian street dogs and paid for their travel costs so that the pup could have a better life. As a result, he is now living in comfort at a beachside house.

They went above and beyond for us, as they worked on video editing and organized a fundraising event to cover our Indian pup Alpha's international travel fees. Thanks to their efforts, Alpha embarked on a journey from India all across to America. With CrystalCostDog joining forces with them, they launched a creative pet portraits fundraiser that earned enough money needed for Alpha's relocation from Florida to North Carolina's Misplaced Mutts rescue.

Oscar for #natunatusong

Congrats to Indian music director MM Keravani. What an incredible accomplishment for MM Keeravani, SS Rajamouli, Jr ntr and Ramcharan taking home an Oscar for Natunatu!

It is a great pleasure that our team had the opportunity of meeting SS Rajamouli at Cornerstone Pet Clinic while caring for the rescued dog Kala.

Successful Shelter Open house.

Our animal shelter open house was a hit with all who attended. Taking a break from their hard work, the shelter team enjoyed some traditional Telangana teen mar music and danced along to it. It was an enjoyable experience for everyone involved!
