Lambi Fund of Haiti supports women’s autonomy in creating economic opportunities. The members of the organizations are given a credit to aide in the start-up of their small economic venture. The women of the organizations engages in various commerce activities to sell general merchandises, household goods and supplies, cosmetic products, agricultural products, grocery items, or meat products.

Prior to the start of the newly funded projects, there were about 50 members who attended training sessions on credit portfolio management and how to manage their trade in general. The members learn necessary and fundamental tools to foster their success.

In Southern Haiti and the Area of Latibonite, 5 organizations with approximate total of 356 members were given funding of $103 per member to launch their endeavors. Over the course of the year, Lambi Fund of Haiti monitored the profitability of the oganizations and offered consultation services as needed.

This alternative economic program is structured in a manner to offer a credit to the organizations and after 6 months, the credit is partially or fully repaid. The process allows Lambi Fund of Haiti to aide additional organizations within a given year to start their own small economic activities. Due to the political, safety, and social issues in the country, the members and the citizens of the country have experienced a rise in the cost of living. To reduce the financial constraint on the organizations, the repayment requirement is temporarily suspended. This will allow the members of the organizations to increase their profit margin, to reinvest into their commerce, and to provide for their families.
