We know that GlobalGiving requests quarterly reports, but we prefer to provide updates every month because we love expressing our gratitude for your valuable support consistently. It is truly a pleasure to share with you a detailed report about the activities carried out by the Recreational, Educational, Social, and Cultural Animal Center (CRESCA) over the past months.

Your generous support has been essential for the continuity of our work, and we want to keep you informed about the positive impact your contributions have on the lives of the dogs we care for and protect.

Activities Carried Out in January

This month, CRESCA has worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being of the dogs that are part of our family. Here are some of the most relevant activities:

1. Caring for our furry friends

We provided consistent food, water, and veterinary care to all the dogs sheltered at the center.
Ivermectin was applied to all dogs to effectively control flea and tick infestations.
We offered six cremation services for the pets of community members and municipal residents. This service is part of our local fundraising program.

2. Sterilizations

With the support of the Health Department, we performed 81 free sterilizations at our facilities, thanks to collaboration with the state and municipal governments.
In partnership with the Municipal Tourism Office and Colorado State University, we conducted the first day of a new campaign, sterilizing 18 pets.

3. Food collection and improvement

We collected 158.5 kg of chicken skin, a fundamental resource for improving the protein intake of our dogs.
We refined our fish meal preparation process by incorporating cooking and sun-drying, ensuring better product quality.

4. Donations and community support

We sincerely thank “Cuesta Hermano” Fishery and Icehouse for their generous donation of 23 kg of fresh fish waste, a valuable contribution to feeding our dogs.
This month, our sponsored pet program benefited 18 families who received support for feeding and veterinary care for their dogs, thanks to the commitment of kind-hearted individuals in our community.

5. Fundraising

We organized a sale of wooden dog houses made from recycled wood donated by the community. The funds raised were used to purchase food and prepare fish meal.

At CRESCA, we are proud to be a shelter where each of our four-legged guests receives the love and care they deserve. Thanks to the tireless work of our team and the generous contributions from the community, we are able to offer them a safe place where they not only find shelter but also veterinary care, food, and a space full of love while waiting for a new opportunity.

Each month, we ensure that our facilities are kept clean, safe, and well-maintained, providing food, hydration, and the necessary care for all of our residents. Additionally, thanks to the collaboration of local authorities and concerned community members, we continue to receive street animals and those who are injured. We make sure that everyone feels loved and protected, ensuring they receive the veterinary care they deserve, all thanks to the support and donations from the community.

This month, with the help of the Health Department, we performed 19 free sterilizations to help control the local pet population. We also treated all of the animals with Ivermectin to keep them free from fleas and ticks, ensuring their well-being.

As part of our fundraising and community support efforts, we provided 4 cremation services to people in the community who had lost their beloved companions. We also offered our shelter to 13 pets that needed special care and treatments while their owners were unable to care for them due to medication schedules, veterinary appointments, or work commitments. While the owners covered the veterinary and food costs, we took care of providing personalized attention, keeping them healthy and safe under the supervision of our vet.

Thanks to the generous donations from local businesses, we have been able to diversify our guests’ diets. We visited roasted chicken restaurants that donated chicken skin, which, when fried, turned into delicious "chicharrones" for our furry friends. We collected a total of 66 kg of chicken skin, which became a wonderful treat for our animals!

In addition, through our collaboration with local fishermen as part of our sustainable fisheries project, we received a donation of 12 kg of fresh fish waste from one cooperative, and another joined in with an additional 64 kg. With these nutritious products, we have been able to make fish kibble and fish meal, all under the supervision of our veterinarian. Seeing the animals respond positively to this new diet confirms the importance of having the support of our community, friends, donors, and creative individuals.

We are deeply grateful for all the support we receive. Every donation—whether time, food, or resources—makes a significant difference in the lives of our four-legged friends and helps us continue fulfilling our mission: to provide them with a dignified life full of love and care. Thank you for being a part of this beautiful project!

Hagamos Más Por Santa Rosalía is a community foundation dedicated to supporting and uplifting local communities across the municipality of Mulegé in northern Baja California Sur, Mexico. Funded by a mix of local and international donations, it's one of the few small foundations in Mexico authorized to issue tax-deductible donation certificates.

At the heart of the foundation is our animal rescue center, which plays a key role in improving community health and education. By managing stray animals, we're reducing the risk of disease and improving overall sanitation in the area. Plus, the rescue center doubles as an educational resource for local schools, helping teach important values like responsibility, teamwork, and compassion for animals.

Every month, we put in the hard work of maintaining the facility, caring for our furry residents, and reaching out to the community. We regularly receive stray and injured animals from local authorities and sometimes even from concerned neighbors. Here's a glimpse of what we’ve been up to recently:

Keeping the place clean and tidy, making sure the animals have a safe space to live.
Feeding, hydrating, and giving veterinary care to all the animals at the rescue center.
Thanks to a partnership with the Health Department, we performed 15 free sterilizations this month.
Our staff applied Ivermectin to all pets to keep fleas and ticks in check.
As part of our community outreach and fundraising, we provided 7 pet cremation services to those who lost their beloved pets.
We offered temporary care for 5 pets at CRESCA, helping pet owners who couldn’t manage their pets' treatments due to work commitments. We provide shelter, oversee treatments, and handle trips to the vet. (Owners cover food, meds, transport, and any special care their pets need.)
We completed 8 rescues, each supported by a generous "sponsor" who helps provide food for the animals.
We built 5 pet houses using recycled wood donated by community members. These were given to new owners in exchange for dog food, and we collected 12 bags (240 kilograms) of food!

Thanks to our amazing supporters, we’re making a real impact and are excited to keep going strong!
