Dear Donors,
Much has been changed after the Covid crisis across the Globe, but the lives of children suffering from thalassemia are pretty much the same. Their visits to the Hospital are as frequent as they used to be before "The Covid" and so is their determination to fight with the disease.
Please find below a short summary of services provided by Al-Mustafa's Thalassemia Unit in the past four months.
Apart from the above-mentioned services, all the children are being provided medicines such as Iron Chelation Therapy and supplements on regular basis as per their needs assessed and prescribed by our Haematologist. We also provide other necessary treatments to our children for illnesses apart from Thalassemia because the immunity of these children become so weak and they catch other infections easily.
As you are aware that the children suffering from thalassemia require frequent blood transfusions. To cater to the needs of our children, the team of Al-Mustafa's Blood Bank organizes different blood donation camps. The collected blood is then thoroughly screened and utilized for the Free Blood Transfusion of Thalassemic Children. In the past three months i-e August, September and October, we have organized 5 blood donation camps and have collected blood from 175 blood donors/volunteers. Also, we have received blood donations from 110 volunteers at our Hospital.
Life at Al-Mustafa's Thalassemia Unit is not as muted as it seems. We believe that a happy child is a healthy child, therefore, apart from the fun with playing toys and games during their routine visits to the Hospital, we also arrange different Events for our children, to keep them engaged, excited and happy. We have had 5 events during the last three months, including Independence Day Celebrations, Defence Day Celebrations, 2 Birthday Parties and a Gift distribution Ceremony among the children.
And all of this has only been made possible with your kind and generous support for which we are truly thankful to you.
