Thanks to your contributions, TGR Community Health Center continues to provide much needed health services in Katabi township and its environs. Funds have been directed towards ensuring we have a stocked pharmacy and recruitment of medical staff in order to keep up with the demand.
Offering affordable healthcare in this community is paramount as the majority of inhabitants live below the minimum wage; often seeking medical care when the situation is dire. With easy access to the health center and continued education through outreach programs we are able to reach patients such as Najjuma who would otherwise not seek medical advice - here is her story.
Najjuma is a 62 year old grandmother with high blood pressure and diabetes who is taking care of her son and 2 grandchildren upon the death of their mother. The son is unemployed and suffering from end-stage AIDS and her 9 year old granddaughter Maria suffers from asthma. Yoweri, the 7 year old grandson is thankfully healthy with no medical issues. To sustain her family, Najjuma weaves baskets for sale but this is hardly enough to feed the household, forcing them to live on 1 meal a day consisting mostly of starch.
Unfortunately, cases such as Najjuma's are not the exception and there are alot of families that need medical attention. With your help and support, we can make this happen. Consider donating your 1 lunch a month and contribute to this worthy cause.
