Second report of playroom activities

Celebrating the day of the child

Today we will talk about the activities we have done in the playroom, especially on the day of the child that here in Mexico is celebrated on April 30.

The playroom is open for patients from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday. When they arrive at the hospital, they know they can go directly to play, watch a movie, read and paint cartoon and talking.

The children have their computer and more teching materials.

We have links with psychology students, who have asked us to carry out activities for children. We have participated with the friends of UNIDEP in the children's theater.

They had two events here to celebrate the day of the child, the 20 and 28 of april.

We are very grateful for your support to our project because thanks to it today the unit of Psychooncology and Playroom is a reality for them, our children and adolescents with cancer who are cared for at the Regional Hospital of Coatzacoalcos Doctor Valentín Gómez Farias. The Unit and Playroom will be gradually supplemented with books, magazines, videos, toys, table games, computer (next report), Xbox (we are mounting it in a mobile unit), creativity kits, so that boys and girls have several options to spend a pleasant moment.

They have started taking some school subjects led by psycho pedagogues, the subjects are requested by their parents and teachers are beginning to implement their support by getting to know the children through talks on them in their schools, what is what they are needing.

We are equipping the office for the psychologist and research office and working on how we are going to provide meals since we have provided them with food in the hospital dining room.

We will also continue here with a research project where specialists determine the psychological profile of each patient and their parents who wish it, with subsequent sessions of graphotherapy. Specialists have some profiles of patients and parents and they will continue with the other ones but now in the research office in this Unit.

Also children already had class of painting before with us so we want to mount an exhibition with their art here to motivate them.

Once the unit is 100% equipped then we will schedule the activities with the different specialists and volunteers.
