Over 18 months ago we managed to present Tag Rugby to the Physical Education inspectorate in the Ministry of Education, this has since been accepted to be added to the Physical Education National Curriculum. Thus we are now able to bring it into schools as a topic in PE lessons and as a programme in itself for extra curricular activities.
Due to this achievement, we hve managed to encourage PE inspectors to offer PE Professional Development INSETs for PE teachers in 4 different regions (supported by our Union's qualified couches). Unfortunately, these have were not able to take place in October 2020 due to Covid-19, but we hope these will resume next Oct 2021. These courses, we believe, will expose the game and it's benefits to the teachers themselves so they can then implement this as a scheme of work throughout the year.
Throughout lockdown we have worked to create, build and submit a Tag Rugby Values Programme which has been accepted by the MoE and is now offered to Heads of schools nationally as an Exterior Authorised Programme, another source which a head of school can choose to take as an extra-curricular activity for the pupils aged 9-12 in primary schools. This again, we hope to materialise come September 2021.
