Goal Met for MP Annual Fund
By Margaret Shackell | Mayor Potencial Volunteer
![]()
We are thrilled to say that we have met our goal for the Annual Fund for Mayor Potencial. Thank you very much for your support. We have provided life-saving medicine, clean water, clothes, shoes, and so many other items to help people affected by the twin hurricanes in 2020 and people affected by Covid-19. We continue to respond to the needs driven by the citizens of El Rodieto.
We are now moving to our 2023 goal, another $3,000 to support the people of El Rodieto, Honduras and to add support for refugees from Honduras to Tompkins County, NY, USA. We will be sponsoring families for the holidays, providing cultural events and education, all while continuing to provide basic needs in Honduras. We hope that you will join us in celebrating this milestone and in working to do even more.

Supporting those rising out of hurricane turmoil
We have so much going on right now. It is very exciting. We continue to support (and you can through our other GlobalGiving project) the relief efforts from the dual hurricanes in 2020. In El Rodieto, we continue to support individuals with medical needs, like medicine, transportation to appointments, wheelchairs, etc.
One of the most exciting things that we are doing right now is accepting broken, used crayons and making new items for people to buy here and support Mayor Potencial and the people of Honduras.
Finally, we continue to support students in school in El Rodieto. Your assistance in all of these is amazing. We are so happy to partner with you in these ventures.
Please share our story with friends. We do a lot with a little.

Elementary Students at School
As the people of El Rodieto continue to try to remain healthy in the face of poverty, insufficient clean water, and the Covid-19 pandemic, Mayor Potencial continues to support them. We have been delivering medicine and medical supplies to those in need. We are also helping a young boy, Darwin, who is 16 and was bortn with hydrocephalus. He needs milk, diapers, medication, and food.
As elementary students have returned to school, we are working with the government to provide daily meals to them. We have also provided school supplies and are working to help get a teacher in the High School.
In the photos we show the elementary school students eagerly learning. They are so happy to be back. In addition, you can see a happy Darwin.
We want to take this time to thank you sincerely for your help. We continue to work with the people of El Rodieto to reach their maximum potential.
