Dear Friend of Education Africa,
We hope you are doing well and are keeping safe. In this report we wanted to update you on all the hard work our Marimba Team has been doing during this difficult time.
Our children in our Marimba Hubs have been learning new music, practicing all the time, and bringing smiles to all our faces. Last month some of our brilliant Hub Bands even performed in the Sounds of Celebration VIII Concert to an international audience! We are so proud of them and the hard work they put into their performances.
Our virtual training of our marimba educators continues and it has been amazing to watch their progress. The educators have been provided with tablets and keyboards to help them to learn easier and become the best teachers they can be!
We are so proud of our Education Africa Marimba team and all the work they have put in to overcome the lockdown challenges.

Virtual Marimba Learning Continues!

Marimba
Dear Friend of Education Africa,
We hope you are doing well and are keeping safe. In this report we wanted to update you on all the hard work our Marimba Team has been doing during this difficult time.
In September our amazing marimba team were finally able to go back into the hubs and start training the educators again! The educators did not let the lockdown slow them down and with Joan’s teaching they have become even better musicians. We cannot wait until they can start teaching the children all they have learnt.
This year we are beginning again with virtual learning, this time over Google Meet. The educators have been provided with tablets and keyboards to help them to learn easier and become the best teachers they can be!
We are so proud of our Education Africa Marimba team and all the work they have put in to overcome the lockdown challenges.

Dear Friend of Education Africa,

Throughout lockdown Education Africa Marimba Specialist Joan Lithgow has started creating video tutorials and sending them on WhatsApp to all the educators. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Joan sends video tutorials presenting song arrangements. On Monday she teaches the bass, Wednesday the middle section and on Friday she sends the melody and all the parts put together, which she does using the Acapella app. The educators are able to learn the song remotely as they all have dummy keyboards to work on at home.On Tuesdays and Thursdays Joan presents revision theory lessons with 3 worksheets per lesson which the educators can answer and submit to the Education Africa Marimba Assistants, Khabo Motaung and Puseletso Ramashaoi, to be marked. The educators can then use these worksheets in their lessons to the children in their hubs.
