Help the Neediest Get Veterinary Care

Our project, originally titled, "Give Free Spay/Neuter to Low Income MD" has been updated to be called, "Help Low Income MD-VA-DC Area Get Veterinary Care" to more closely reflect the project's activity and goal.   We have also revised our project timeline to be 10 years rather than 1 year as we intend to continue this project indefinitely.   

Each year we provide free veterinary care to approximately 500 cats and 50 dogs in Anne Arundel County.  We also provide free veterinary care to hundreds of other animals brought to us from high-kill shelters and low-income areas in VA and DC.

We received funding from the MD State of Agriculture's Spay & Neuter Program to support low-income families in the Brooklyn Park and Glen Burnie, MD areas. However, to help the neediest of animals in the DC metropolitan area, we have always used monies from donations and from our own coffers.  

Since our last report, in the fourth quarter of 2021, we have provided free spay/neuter and other veterinary services to 160 cats and 11 dogs from low income area zip codes in Anne Arundel county, Maryland, alone.  We have also fixed and vaccinated 161 cats from Accomack and Northampton Counties, two of the most empoverished counties in Virginia.  

As you may know, we rely solely on grants, dontions, and the support of people just like you to continue our life-saving work.  Thank you for all you do for the animals now...and in the future.

Our project, "Give Free Spay/Neuter to Low Income MD" is off to a slow start but is ramping up to have a successful 2022!

We received funding from two separate grants for this project, both slated to start in January 2022.  Both support low-income families in the Brooklyn Park and Glen Burnie, MD areas.

The first is from the MD State of Agriculture's Spay & Neuter Program (Grant #22-7001): $38,467.00 to spay 315 female cats, neuter 225 male cats, spay 32 female dogs and neuter 23 male dogs. This will also provide 594 rabies vaccines and $252.00 for mileage.  

The second is from the Anne Arundel County Executive Community Support Grant for $31,000 to support salaries of the veterinarian and registered veterinary technician on this project.

We would love to help more animals in low-income areas but can only do that with your support!
