Dear Friend and Partner
I hope you are well. Here at HFAW, we continue with the work of ensuring that the current and next generations are free from teenage pregnancies, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Gender-based Violence (GBV), and grow up to be economically empowered. While this initiative's nature continues to unfold, the effects are still the same-girls being left behind and subjected to more miseries.
Life skills education is an initiative that helps us engage the community (children, young adults, adults, and elderly) on the type of community we need and the skills and knowledge we need to achieve that. This month, we conducted a radio outreach talk show at Radio Vuna in Kisii to continue engaging the community members on the areas mentioned, especially those that directly relate to the progress of the girl-child like FGM, GBV, Teenage pregnancies, and Menstrual Health Hygiene.
Radio vuna, a 24-hour 7 days a week, station that directly reach 12 million listeners in Kisii and Nyamira who tune in per day, gave us a platform to continue calling for the end of FGM practice, sensitize the masses on the effects of GBV and protect the rights of children. Some of the questions we received during the live session include listeners wanting to know where to report when they see a girl at risk of FGM, how they can contribute to the end of GBV, the projects we are implementing to achieve this goal, and how they can join HFAW as volunteers.
The outputs of the radio outreach were impressive because they contributed to the larger goal of empowering the community. Through it, we successfully sensitized nearly 3 million people who directly tuned in and were empowered on how to end FGM, GBV, Child-abuse, teeage pregnancy, and mentrual health Management.
Dear Friend and partner, what would we do without you? Look at what we are able to achieve just because you continue to hold our hands and generously walk with us through this journey of transforming our community. We remain grateful. We encourage you to share this report with your friends and loved ones so that they can see the change you are making in our community.
