In August 2021, the state of Puebla confirmed the death of people due to the rains left by Hurricane Grace as it passed through Mexico and within the first hour a total of at least 11 deaths had already been confirmed.
Among many other serious misfortunes that happened at that time.
The northern highlands of the state of Puebla have always lived with few resources and with the pandemic and the rise in prices, this situation has become more expensive.
With the passing of Hurricane Grace, everything got complicated, making it increasingly difficult to help them. The roads and highways had been seriously damaged and it was almost impossible to give them food support, but also basic necessities to repair their homes, which had been practically in ruins.
The population most affected by these disasters has always been the people who were already in a vulnerable situation. As a Food Bank, we already provided food support before the pandemic and before the hurricane, the call for help in the face of Hurricane Grace was a sincere emergency and it was essential to be in solidarity with our communities in distress
Currently some families have already been able to rebuild part of their homes. With the support of the local authorities, the access roads and highways have already been recovered and it is possible to access without major complications.
The people who living in rural areas of the state of Puebla that were affected by Hurricane Grace and surrounding communities receive food support from our organization and in alliance with local parishes and churches and help us so that all resources are distributed equitably.
There are approximately 14,879 people from rural areas and surrounding communities who receive food support, most of them are adults who do not have enough income to have daily food not only due to economic poverty, but also due to a pandemic of more than two years and not ends yet, causing a lot of damage in these communities that cannot resist the increase in prices in everything in equivalence with their daily income.
We would like to sincerely thank all the people who have currently joined this project through recurring or one-time donations, every action of help has been very important. The problem of hunger continues in the area and that is why we want to close this specific project and we want to invite you to continue counting on your support in favor of vulnerable families who do not have access to daily food in the State of Puebla.
We are only the means for help to reach where it is really needed, you are the ones who make acts of generosity possible.
By closing this project, your recurring donations will become apply to "Fighting against hunger in times of pandemic" project.
Our help continues to be in more than 220 food package delivery points throughout the state of Puebla, we reiterate that your help is very important and we really appreciate being able to continue counting on your generous help and empathy for the people who need us.
Sincerily
