We currently provide services for 210 families, and those families include 550 children who benefit from what we provide. Although our primary goal is to provide academic/educational support, we can only provide tutoring support to 62 children in grades 1-6 due to a lack of funding. Of those 62 children

In early February, all students took mid-term exams in school. The results are as follows:

43 of 62 passed all the exams with good grades.
7 students out of 62 failed Math and English exams.
12 of 62 are still learning Arabic reading and writing and did not take the exam
These results show significant improvement for our scholars.

The Founder and CEO, Mr. Qassim Basry Alowaid, visited Iraq from Washington, DC, in December 2022. During his visit, Mr. Alowaid met with almost every family registered with I.C. Hope, paying particular attention to each child's living conditions, mental and emotional development, physical health, and educational progress. He discovered that students and their families are eager to continue attending school and doing good. These regular visits are crucial in ensuring that our beloved families are cared for and allow us to ensure that your donations are appropriately allocated.

The success that our staff sees in these programs gives them the strength and encouragement to do more for these children. Our hard work and your generous donations enable us to do more for these children. "Together, we can change the lives of hundreds of children.

One of our amazing stories: Amjed is a 12 year old boy who struggled with school last year, because he had to work after school to provide for his younger sisters and mother. I.C. Hope provided him and his family with extra living assistance this year, so that Amjed can focus on school only. Amjed has attended the tutoring program since the beginning of the school year, and he has been doing very well for the first two quarters. His mother was so very happy to see her young boy pass all the mid-term exams.

Iraqi children's Hope has received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the Iraq Department of Education in Samawa Province for our blessed efforts and effective and distinguished contribution.

The letter from the Department of Education states:

"In appreciation of the blessed efforts and the effective and distinguished contribution of Iraqi Children's Hope Organization for their humanitarian stances, we extend our thanks for those benevolent efforts. We hope they continue this approach to serve the common good."

We are excited to continue our work and encourage you to join us in our efforts on behalf of the children of Iraq.

Iraqi Children's Hope

During the 2021-2022 school year, ICHOPE’s tutoring program was very active in supporting many students who were facing difficulties in school. Operating all 12 months of 2021-2022, ICHOPE provided support to the following through our after-school tutoring program:

67 students in grades 1-6 attended our tutoring program receiving tutoring help in Arabic (reading and writing) Math, English and Science.The children worked really hard and did very well,which resulted in all of them passing all end-of-year exams and moving on to the next grade.
14 students in grades 7-9 also attended our program and did very well. All of them passed their exams and moved on to the next grade.
Two girls, who had never attended school, decided that they wanted to learn to read and write. They are still in the learning process and are showing very good progress.
The tutoring program took place at our main location and at a new site as well. Students attended all year when they were in school and during their school vacations.
We currently have 23 teachers and 18 volunteers at our two locations. Additionally, 17 students were tutored by teachers near their homes.

Before the 2020-2021 school year started, we provided 400 school uniforms for elementary and middle school students along with backpacks and school supplies.

This school year we provided 635 school uniforms, shoes, and backpacks with school supplies. We intend to increase that number for the 2022-2023 school year.

Our staff visited some schools to check on these children andto determine how they are doing in school. The feedback they got was very encouraging. Most kids have shown wonderful progress, providing proof that our tutoring programs are successful.

The following is about three siblings who attend one of our centers.

Sokina is a 7 year old girl who was in first grade last year. She and her 2 siblings live with their grandmother after both parents died years ago. Sokina was unable to read and write Arabic in first grade, but since she started attending our tutoring program, she has made great progress and passed the first-grade exam. This school year she is in second grade and is still doing well. Her grandmothersaid, with tears streaming down her face that without ICHope’s support her grandchildren would not be in school now. She added, "When I die,I know that these 3 innocent children will be in good hands,” meaning that ICHOPE will take care of them.

ICHOPE consistently provides tutoring programs in Iraq for students who struggle in school, especially elementary and middle school students who face difficulty in learning. Many of the students concluded this year with much better grades than before, so we are confident that our tutoring lessons had a great impact on them.

Our programs are designed not only to help students with their assignments and homework, but also to provide the foundation of reading and writing Arabic for first and second grades. One of our main goals is to teach the students to help themselves. In other words, we guide them to the point at which they become independent learners; thus, they no longer need a tutor. During the summer holidays, we will continue to offer remedial courses for students who need help to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

The staff and the families of the children share their success stories with excitement and joy! Here are the stories of Ahmad and Amal.

Ahmad is 8 years old and is in 3rd grade. When he registered with ICHope last November, he was struggling with reading and writing Arabic. After 5 months in our program, Ahmad started to read and write. His mother cried tears of joy when she was walking in the street and Ahmad was able to read the street and store signs for her.

Amal, a student in fifth grade, was having trouble understanding the school materials in math and English. She kept failing in both classes, until she attended our touring program to receive extra help. At the end of this school year, Amal passed both classes with grades above 80%! Amal’s ICHope sponsor sent her a gift for her hard work and for the effort she put in to improve her grades as much as she did!
