With a high population growth rate and an increasing population in Uganda, the cost of living is increasing day by day especially in the capital city, major towns and Kampala suburbs. This has economic implications related with increased expenditure on transport, feeding, tuition, health care, accommodation among others. This calls for engagement in several income generating ventures in order to make ends meet. However, this comes along with the need for long hours of work, monitoring and supervision of these ventures bringing about fatigue, stress, depression and other health complications that affect one’s productivity; physically, mentally and emotionally.

With the meager salary, the directors go through the same circumstances mentioned above which affects their services to the vulnerable children, families and communities. In the bid for the directors to serve better, there was need for them to have their own place of residence and through your continued support, great progress has been registered with regard to the construction of their house and the following have been done.

Tiling of some rooms at the ground floor has been done successfully.
Electrical and plumbing work has been done and little is awaiting to get finished
The first phase of painting has also been done.

We really appreciate your support towards this project for its progress has reduced the pressure on Directors to look for funds to finance their accommodation and constructing their own house at the same time. The relief has allowed Directors allocate more time to the children’s home and effectively managing the different projects. Helping Directors serve better-September 2020

Serving is more about a heart condition and a state of mind rather than a one-time event. When it comes to vulnerable children and families who need educational, good nutrition, counseling, healthcare and income generating activities can only be supported with a stable heart and mind. With a lot of demands for survival and meeting the children’s needs with a small salary, the Directors of Another Hope Children’s Ministries were forced to engage into different income generating activities to source out more funds to meet all their needs. Among these are house rent which is paid on a monthly basis, educational costs for the children in the family, food and other needs.

This often caused tension, stress and worry to the Directors hence affecting their service to the vulnerable children and the communities because their minds and hearts were burned with a lot in a bid to survive together with their children. The helping directors serve better project came up to enable the Directors focus on meeting the needs of the children at Another Hope Children’s Ministries as well as the many others they serve in the community. The project will go a long way to enable the directors have a home and won’t need to worry about the monthly payments for rent and establishing their small bakery business as the kitchen will be suitable for more production to supplement their income.

For the small period the project has been running, the directors are so grateful for everyone who has supported them to enable them serve better. Shared below are the achievements for the contribution made towards this project.

The Directors have been in position to take on the construction process of their house and it has reached at the stage of installing appliances, tailing and fencing hence improving its condition making it suitable to live in. This will help save the directors a burden of paying monthly rent fee hence saving the funds for other family needs. Soon they will be shifting into their new home.

The children at Another Hope Children’s Ministries have been joyous in this period because the Directors have been largely involved in their welfare. Because of your support, the Directors have been relieved of their demands and had more time dedicated to serving the children. Children have enjoyed different kinds of meals prepared by the Directors like the English breakfast, celebrated children’s birthdays, ensured the children have access to proper medical care. The children’s feeding improved because there are availed with fruits every week, the vegetable garden existing due to the efforts of the Directors is also producing vegetables for the children and spices like tomatoes.

Directors having more time to rest.

Resting is not about being lazy or avoiding work but it is necessary for our health and being at our best when we are working. Resting and relaxation reduces stress, improves focus and an active mind to think and plan. The Directors have had time to rest and it has enabled them to come up with great ideas which are benefiting the children at Another Hope Children’s Ministries and in the community for example the interim skills training where the children are being equipped with marketable skills.
