Caseworkers are the most important resource in our work to help survivors to thrive. Recently, over 100 caseworkers received the tools they need to serve survivors in a four part training we organized with national experts. The series included training on the impacts of trauma from multiple perspectives, including neurological changes that take place in the brain in response to trauma and how those changes shape the victim experience.
The series also covered the importance of self care and the results of secondary trauma on frontline workers. Our goal is to build local capacity to serve survivors by providing caseworkers with techniques to reduce harm to victims as well as tips for managing the difficulties a survivor may have in accepting help. In the past six months, ten human trafficking victims have received the support they need to build new lives.
