Help Strengthen Organizations in Argentina!

We want to seize this opportunity to thank our donors and share with you all of the activities we carried out last year.

CONVENINGS

During 2021, work was done to enhance the actions and impact of Civil Society by building a culture of networking. RACI grew in its number of members, managed to incorporate 22 new CSOs, reaching 167 members of the Network. In addition, two new working groups were created: the Diversity Group and the Projects Group.

It is very important to highlight the new alliances established: RACI was selected as host of the AGNA coordination, a unique opportunity to continue deepening networking and the articulation of international networks. Other new alliances this year have been with GlobalGiving, with whom RACI has managed to become a permanent partner, and with CAF America, joining the CAF Global Alliance international network. Lastly, RACI was chosen to carry out the sub-coordination of the Regional Innovation Center for Change.

INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

During 2021, in contribution to strengthening the organizational structure of the social sector, RACI promoted the mobilization of resources thanks to the launch of the 2021 Innovation Fund, in addition to the co-management of different funds, thus collaborating with the allocation of resources to Civil Society. Argentina, mobilizing a total of more than 375,000 US dollars.

Seminars and workshops focused on strengthening the capacities of CSOs were also held, in which Organizations from different countries in the region participated. In addition, internal training webinars and attendance at training seminars by the RACI team were organized.

ADVOCACY

RACI works to generate a suitable enabling space for Civil Society based on the articulation of different activities. Therefore, during 2021, 5 campaigns, 66 events and more than 700 meetings with different actors in society have been carried out. Among them, the participation in the spaces of the C20, the Reconstruction with a lasting character project, in the hands of CIVICUS, the Working Group on Financial Disclosures Related to Inequality, the Conversation on the status of the 2030 Agenda in Argentina and, together With Red Civil Society, RACI has worked on the Better Rules for Social Organizations campaign.

In addition, almost after two years marked by the Pandemic, the RACI team, together with other Social Organizations from Argentina and agents linked to sustainable development, attended the first face-to-face meeting between organizations and the new British Ambassador, Kirsty Hayes.

RESEARCH

In this aspect, RACI seeks to generate data, produce tools and disseminate relevant information for Civil Society and for this purpose, during this year it has carried out more than 1,400 surveys and has several publications in progress. The first, Regional Civic Perspective, which sought to study and better understand the Social Organizations of the region, and Visible Diversity, inviting reflection on the situation of diversity in the field of CSOs.

Dear Project Supporters,

Thank you, once again, for joining us in our work to strengthen Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Argentina and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Although this has been another difficult year for Civil Society in the region, we were proud to encounter once more resilient organizations that managed to keep up the work with their communities. In this sense, we have worked to continue strengthening the capacities of CSOs in the region, carrying out workshops, webinars and labs on themes such as innovation, design thinking, transparency and accountability, networking culture, strategic planning, access to resources, and communications.

Moreover, we continued developing our role as conveners, holding events to foster discussions on SDGs, enabling space for CSOs, and inequality, while connecting different actors related to sustainable development. At the same time, our Research Area has worked on two different surveys, Civic Perspective and Visible Diversity, both of which intended to understand the situation of CSOs in the region from different points of view, so as to rely on trustworthy data to advocate for a better enabling environment.

During these last months, we have also worked intensively in resource mobilization. We have co-managed the Fund of the New Zealand Embassy in Argentina and the Fund of the New Zealand Embassy in Mexico for organizations in Central America, receiving and evaluating over 500 proposals of projects related to Social and Economic Inclusion, Climate Change and Resilience, Gender Equality, and Development of Communities. At the same time, we kept accompanying the winners of our Innovation Fund for CSOs in Latin America and the Caribbean, who will be executing their projects until January 2022.

Strengthening Civil Society Organizations

Dear Project Supporters,

Thank you for helping us continue strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Argentina and Latin America and the Caribbean. Your support has been really significant for us to keep up our daily work!

As the sanitary and economic crisis worsens in the region, CSOs have been more active than ever, working closely with their communities in favor of social transformation. From RACI, we know that we need strong organizations to build a more sustainable world, and we have carried out several activities in order to achieve this goal.

During the past months, we have worked intensely on capacity strengthening, doing webinars and workshops to collaborate in the development of the different organizational structures. Some of the topics covered in these events were Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Strategic Planning, Transparency and Accountability, Volunteering, Leadership, and International Cooperation. More than 170 people working in organizations from all around the country participated in these events.

We also continued with our Advocacy priorities, joining and promoting a national campaign that sought for a better legal and fiscal framework for CSOs. Moreover, we held three multi-stakeholder discussions to set the priorities for a collective advocacy agenda for the whole sector, building a common ground for a co-created strategy to rise. Our research area has also launched Civic Perspective, a regional survey to get to know the state of organizations and the communities they work with. In this way, we are interested in collecting reliable information to promote an advocacy strategy based on updated data.

Lastly, we are very glad to announce that our 2021 membership process has finished this past July, and that we have welcomed 22 new organizations to our Network! As new members join us, the convenings we foster keep getting richer in diversity and collaboration.
