Zaculeu, an archaeological site located in the department of Huehuetenango, in northwestern Guatemala, is a city of pre-Columbian origin whose name means "White Land". It was discovered in the year 1525 this place was inhabited by the Mayan people, who were called "mames".
It is a site with 42 structures and houses the riverbeds and streams of the region. The maximum character of this time was Kaibil Balam, who led the city to be recognized in the area for its fortress surrounded by ravines, and the coexistence of the settlers around the famous ball game.
Today, many children in Guatemala still do not have access to the game, since their reality forces them to work from an early age.
However, thanks to your financial support, the Scholarship Project is growing and expanding its geographical coverage in Guatemala, providing study opportunities to change the history of each of the girls. This year 2022, 326 scholarships were provided to girls in rural areas of the department of Huehuetenango.
As a project, our main goal is to promote the permanence of girls in school, through accompaniment and economic support to families. All this work is carried out with the aim of ensuring that the beneficiaries understand the world around them, can live with dignity, and develop their potential within and outside the community.
