Healthcare for 2000 Rural Villagers in Myanmar

Since 2017, our Mobile Clinic program has been providing essential healthcare services to over 2,000 people in remote villages across 9,000 km² in southern Myanmar. In a country deeply affected by civil war, access to medical care remains limited, especially in rural areas where many have never been examined by a doctor. The Mobile Clinic, equipped with basic health tools and diagnostic systems connected to international medical staff, continues to serve these underserved communities with a dedicated team of one doctor and one nurse.

One of our long-term patients, D. has faced significant health challenges, including diabetes, hypertension, and knee pain, which have rendered her unable to walk for six years. Despite the hardships, including losing her home during the pandemic, D. has been receiving consistent care from our team since March 2020. With regular medication and ongoing treatment, her quality of life has improved thanks to the support of our donors.

In the current climate of civil unrest, this Mobile Clinic is more crucial than ever. We remain committed to delivering life-saving care to those in need and extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our supporters, whose contributions make this work possible.

In Myanmar, it has been increasingly difficult to operate for the past two years due to constant political tension. Despite the circumstances, MedAcross is one of the few NGOs that continues to operate in remote villages through mobile clinics.
In the latest mobile clinic, the MedAcross team reached the home of U., a 71-year-old man who has been suffering from lung problems for months. Since he became ill, U. has been unable to work, which creates several difficulties for both him and his family, which consists of six members.
Our medical team joined examined him carefully, gave him doses of antibiotic and helped with respiratory problems through a portable nebulizer, teaching him how to use the inhaler checked his blood pressure.
Through the Mobile Clinics we reach people who live too far from hospitals and are unable to get treatment at this time.
