Girl Power Gulu update
By Lucy Russell | Project Leader
Dear GlobalGiving:
Here is an update for the Girl Power Gulu fundraiser. Despite limited funds raised through GlobalGiving, the program got a contract to supply 2500 packets of pads to 15 primary schools. This new partnership shall make more profits than before and we hope to take this golden opportunity.
General production started and so far we have made 460 pads and our intention is to make 800 packets. We also intend after the production we shall start on with marketing and also conducting lessons for the girls. The project is in high demand. We are trying all effort to ensure that we kick off but that can only happens with our collective roles. We additionally need more buttons, which is $45 and also waterproof bags for more pads, which is $70.
Going into 2020, we are going to create a coordinate fundraising push to raise more money from the GlobalGiving page.

Report II
By Lucy Russell | Project Leader
The girls of Gulu remain in dire need of sanitary pad supplies and reproductive health lessons. Period justice is an issue of great importance in the region, and this project has the potential to signficantly improve conditions.
Due to a stagnation in fundraising, we have not been able to raise nearly as much money as we had hoped for this month. This has inspired us to return to a strategic planning session with our local leader, Kevin, who spearheads the implementation of the program. In our conversation in the upcoming week, we will establish a renewed strategy to improve our next round of fundraising.
We will continue conversations with local stakeholders, including the sanitary pad manufacturers and the recipients of the supplies. We recognize the importance of active engagement with the community, so we will prioritize listening and learning to do better in this next stage.

Menstrual health program for 1,000 girls in Uganda (39335)
By Lucy Russell | Project Leader
Hello,
Unfortunately, life has thrown a hurdle and another pressing matter has consumed the organization. Instead of being able to focus fully on the menstrual health program, our attention has turned to a dire situation. Last week, TeamHCU was involved in a car accident while driving to do a reproductive health workshop in a remote village. A truck swerved into us from oncoming traffic: fortunately, everyone in our team is still safe, healthy, and uninjured: unfortunately, the damages to repair the car are around $3,000 USD, and we're asking that anyone who is in a position to donate could give what they can to help us with these unforseen costs. If we don't come up with the funds we need for these repairs, we will be forced to make dramatic cuts to other programs, which will cause many people to go without crucial services like education, sanitary pad access, and entreprenuership loans.
The "Hope-Mobile" as we like to call her, is vital to HCU's work. Having a sturdy vehicle that can travel long distances to remote villages allows us to ensure that we can provide thousands of beneficiaries with education and access to services like reproductive health workshops and materials, microfinance loans and business training sessions, and sensitization to issues like gender-based violence and children's rights to education. We want to ensure that all of the donations will go directly to the repair cost of the vehicle. The cost breakdown of the car repairs are outlined below: Donation request - $3,500 USDPlease help by donating and sharing this fundraiser page: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/repairing-the-hope-mobile/As always, all donations are tax deductible and your donations are impacting not just the lives of the thousands who directly benefit from our program, but their families and communities. Thank you for your kindness and consideration, Lucy Russell
