Every month, over 100 bags of fod are given to the women who work in the bars. The bars are technically open, but there is very limited business, so when the girls work, if they have no customers, they make no money despite showing up every day. These packets usually contain rice (5 kg), fish sauce, cooking oil, snacks, soap, shampoo, canned fish, and 20-40 packages of Mama noodles. This service provides the foundation for friendship through which we can have more meaningful conversations about what the girls want for their lives. We have 30 women who have completed the finance class, and 20 who have (or have almost) completed the baking class.
As of March 1, Thailand resumed the more relatxed Test and Go program allowing visitors to see the country after only one negative COVID test. We are praying that many of the businesses that have shut down due to lack of tourism can resume work and re-hire their employees.
We thank you so much for helping to make a difference in the lives of so many families here in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
