2021 Blue Schools Report

By Karisa Arterbury | Director of Operations

Hi there,

Last time I reached out, I was announcing our very 1st mini pilot in Oregon! That, I am happy to announce, was a big success. We collaborated with Vibe of Portland, an arts-based nonprofit serving youth. The students enjoyed a fun-filled week of learning about their local watersheds in Portland, and got to integrate their learning with various art projects seen in these photos.

Connecting with nature is what it's all about, and we now have another school involved near Boston. Middle school students are learning about their watershed while putting together a fundraiser for Ocean Blue and curriculum that they will teach to the younger students in their own school. I can't wait to report back about the results of this year long effort and educational experiences.

Our team of volunteers is now actively doing outreach to Oregon and Florida schools and I am so excited to give you the next report. With teachers now adapted to life and teaching during a global pandemic, we are optimistic that the ocean and watersheds are making a return to the spotlight and priorities in all of our hearts and minds.

Thank you so much for your continued support and when you get a chance check out our 1st Annual Save the Waves campaign, just in time before Ocean Blue's big 10th anniversary this coming World Ocean Day!

Warm regards,

Karisa Arterbury
