Empower 17,000 kids to Save the Ocean

Ocean Blue Project has launched the first Mini Pilot of the Blue Schools K-12 watershed curriculum. We collaborated with Vibe of Portland, a youth arts nonprofit, to deliver Blue Schools to 15 students in the Lower Willamette Watershed in Oregon. The mini pilot happened this week and we get to hear back from teachers in a listening session next week!

These mini pilots are designed to learn as much as we can from teachers and their students, so we can improve the overall program and figure out the best ways to customize the curriculum for different locales. 

With a full pilot launch planned for the 2021-22 school year, the Blue Schools Team is excited to hear back from classrooms about the pledges and Stewardship Action Projects students will design to improve the health of their own watersheds.

Can you believe that spring is just around the corner? We’re still wrapping our heads around how 2021 has flown by so quickly already! One thing we know for sure is we are so excited for the work that lies ahead of us as we push to launch Blue Schools Curriculum in 40 K-5 Oregon classrooms. Lessons are being completed this month and we're already hearing back from educators to fine tune lesson plans before launching this fall! 

A huge part of our mission at Ocean Blue Project is educating our youth and giving them the tools to help save our oceans. We all have a role to play in ocean conservation, and we believe that the younger kids learn, the better. Our Blue Schools Program will bring STEM experiences to K-12 classrooms, connecting the dots between climate change and the ocean while teaching them to be stewards of the ocean. We help kids make a holistic connection between their own environment and the health of the local water supply, wildlife, and our one world ocean.

Starting today, March 8th, the GlobalGiving Little by Little Campaign will match your donation of up to $50 at 50% which directly helps us reach 17,000 students across 750 classrooms in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. through interactive education surrounding ocean conservation.
