Dear friends,
We are sending you so much gratitude for the support you give to Project Soar! Thanks to your generous contributions, we continue to pursue our mission of empowering underserved girls, fostering their leadership skills, and shaping them into leaders of today and tomorrow.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to Iman, a beneficiary of Project Soar in Syria. Iman is one of the many internally displaced teen girls facing precarious conditions, extreme poverty, and a high risk of gender-based violence. Through our 25-workshop empowerment curriculum, Project Soar offers girls like Iman the opportunity to comprehend their value, voice, body, rights, and path. Our curriculum has proven particularly successful in instilling confidence in the capacities of these girls: according to our impact data, while 34.78% of Soar Girls were feeling unable to control their future before the program, that figure dropped significantly to 8.7% as the workshop concluded
This amazing result is exemplified by Iman's journey. Right from the beginning of the workshops, Iman expressed her passion for drawing. However, she hesitated to share her talent with others due to fears of societal bullying. In Syria, engaging in activities unrelated to household chores, marriage, and childbirth is often considered inappropriate for girls. Throughout her childhood, she was never allowed to do anything but domestic work. After completing the first two modules, "Value" and "Voice," Iman finally found the courage to express her love for drawing. Furthermore, she actively participated in other recreational activities and built meaningful friendships with fellow Soar girls.
"Thanks to the workshops I overcame my shyness in expressing my talent for drawing. Now I feel confident in sharing my passions with others. I am grateful for this opportunity as it made me realize what my rights are and how to voice my talent"
Witnessing such positive transformations in our girls makes us feel very proud! Stay tuned for more updates from Project Soar, and never doubt the significant impact you are making.
Best Wishes,
Project Soar Team
