IMAGINE: If all Nigerian Women and Girls are living their dreams; Nigeria would have been full of potential visionary leaders who will take the country to the next level politically and economically. We must all join hands together to make this happen.
Women Inspiration Development Center (WIDC) as known by our supporters is committed to advancing women and children"s right and creating a safe place for survivors of gender-based violence and disenfranchised women and chidren in Nigeria.
Mission: To improve the health, economic, and social status of Nigerian women and children in order to empower them to lead fulfilling lives free of violence.
Vision: We envision a Nigeria where women and children agency are developed, have the power to shape their destiny, break free from the chains of societal limitations, and create a future filled with endless possibilities.
In January and February, 2023, our advocacy against violence against women and girls continued in collaboration with WARDC
In March Women Inspiration Development Center Celebrated the 2023 International Women Day (IWD). “DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” by training and certified 85 teachers of high school to be meaningfully connected online
In April, Women Inspiration Development Center joined the Good Deed International to celebrate the year 2023 Good Deed Day. We visited and donated toiletries in two hospitals
In April also, Blessing was brought to our shelter from the street. She was a victim of human trafficking. She was thrown out by her master because she felt she was not doing as much work as she wanted. She came to Ile-Ife from Miango, Plateau State. Based on her interest, we put her to a fashion design shop where she learning tailoring and she will finish her training by ending of May, 2024.
In May to July also, our collaboration with Women Advocate and Research Documentation Center (WARDC) in building community solidarity and accountability in ending gender-based violence continued by involving the Traditional women leaders (Iyalodes) and Market Women Leaders (Iyalojas) in our campaign of eradicating Violence against Women and Girls in their domain
In August, WIDC in collaboration with WARDC celebrated the International Youth Day by training female youth on organizing campaign to eradicate Violence against women and girls
In September through October, WIDC in collaboration with WARDC continue to embarked on campaigns against Violence against Women in villages, communities, schools and market places
In October, International Day of Girl Child was celebrated in a grand style by WIDC as 356 female students from 25 high schools, 25 teachers from 25 schools and 31 Confident girls from universities came together to celebrate ourselves as digital generation in collaboration with the author of "Pioneer in Skirt". The film was watched and analysed by the girls. Also, during the program, there was sensitization about human trafficking using the material of our partner, LILUYE. There was also sensitization of the new law, Violence Against persons Prohibition Acts (VAPP). Nine women were also picked from Academics, Bank industry, State officials and Teaching services. These women were awarded by WIDC for excellence, appreciation and recognition.
In November, Women inspiration Development Center (WIDC) joined others round the world on the Giving Tuesday to give books and other materials to four schools in Osun.
Also, In November and part of December, Women Inspiration Development Center (WIDC) joined others round the world to participate in the 16 Days of Activism. We had campaigns on social media and walk round Osogbo the state capital of Osun State with the First lady to sensitize people on the need to eradicate Violence against women and girls.
In December, 2023 Women Inspiration Development Center fed 271 vulnerable families through our end of the year feeding program (giving to the women living in extreme poverty). The program was funded by Julie Adejumo and her friends based in UK. The food was distributed in 3 locations so that it can reach many communities.
