Helping my parents through skill
My name is Fiza Bibi, and I'm a 28-year-old resident of Gulshan Iqbal Colony, Gojra. As the youngest of five siblings, including two brothers and three sisters, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of poverty. Despite completing class 5 at a nearby government primary school, I was forced to drop out due to financial constraints. To support my family, I began working alongside my parents, struggling to make ends meet.
However, my life took a dramatic turn when I encountered the SHD team in my village. They introduced me to a "Sewing Center" initiative, aimed at empowering women and young girls from worker families with vocational training. This opportunity seemed like a dream come true, and I eagerly enrolled in the one-year course.
Through the sewing center, I acquired exceptional sewing, cutting, and stitching skills, which have enabled me to earn a steady income and support my family. I'm deeply grateful to the SHD team for creating this platform, which has transformed the lives of many village women, including mine. Their dedication to empowering marginalized communities is truly commendable.
Today, I'm proud to be a part of the sewing center, where I continue to hone my skills and inspire other women to do the same. This initiative has not only improved my economic prospects but also boosted my confidence and self-esteem. I'm eager to see the positive impact it will have on my community in the years to come.
